San Roque, km 126 near Gibraltar.

San Roque Old Course was built in 1990, designed by Dave Thomas, with bunkers redesigned by Seve Ballesteros. Rated one of the best courses in Europe, for many years it has played host to memorable moments for the young pretenders and old campaigners alike. The course's tight, sloping fairways are lined by mature cork oak trees - demanding straight, accurate driving. Strategic bunker placement and deceptive water hazards threaten all but the most precise approach shots. The greens are fast, contoured and true, rewarding well-judged putts and punishing anything else. The front nine holes wind through the cork oak forests that the resort is famous for and give superb mountain views. The back nine is laid out across rolling hills and includes plunging, vertiginous carries that test a player's judgement of distance to the limit. The closing holes incorporate the resort's shimmering lakes, presenting a finish as beautiful as it is challenging.

2002 saw work begin on the construction of The New Course - a second championship golf course at the Club. The design, by the renowned American course designer Perry Dye, incorporates the contours of the San Roque hills, giving golfers wonderful views to the Guadalquiton River and the Mediterranean Sea beyond. The idea was to create a new course that is a challenge for scratch and low handicap golfers but that is also possible for higher handicap players to enjoy. To that end each hole has five different tee positions and fairways that are wider than those on The Old Course. Nevertheless, these fairways are designed to reward canny tactics and skilful drive placement. Water hazards guard four of the greens, also defended by more than a hundred strategic bunkers.
